First spirulina production in Dhaka, Bangladesh

In January the EnerGaia Bangladesh team set up tanks on the rooftop of Sher-e-Bangla University in Dhaka. Bioreactor spirulina has begun operation in Singapore

  In Singapore, the new 200 bioreactor spirulina farm that EnerGaia installed with our partner, Ruyi Ventures, has begun operation!  As of September there were 80 tanks operating.  These would be used to scale-up production from the remaining tanks.  In an exciting new development, EnerGaia sent its Operations Manager, Muhammet Doertkardes, to help inoculate the bioreactors with fresh spirulina paste taken from one of EnerGaia’s farms in Bangkok.  This proved to be a successful way to rapidly start-up spirulina production…

EnerGaia won the Fish 2.0 at Stanford University

Saumil and Bonnie attended the Fish 2.0 finals at Stanford University.  EnerGaia won the Southeast Asia track of the competition.  The event catering team helped us to make spirulina smoothies for everyone to try, and we also brought samples of spirulina chips and energy balls which were very well received.  This enabled us to show the favorable taste profile and versatility of Skyline Spirulina, which led us to meet several potential new distribution partners to help bring our spirulina food…

Second shipment to Phuket

On Wednesday, November 15th the EnerGaia team packed and sent a second shipment to Phuket for the spirulina farm under construction. The truck contained another 380 of our spirulina photobioreactors as well as laboratory equipment and processing equipment including an industrial scale dryer. We are happy to report that thetruck arrived safely and was fully unloaded The water and electricity connections for the new farm experienced delays. Working on improvement to the air delivery system with Dr. Sorawit of BIOTEC

EnerGaia opens a new office in Dhaka, Bangladesh

At the beginning of the month Saumil visited the new EnerGaia office in Bangladesh and joined our local team to meet with suppliers such as RFL Plastic, implementation partners such as Winrock International and Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), and customers such as EPS. It was a very productive set of meetings, with an MOU being signed with the USAID Agricultural Extension Support Activity (AESA) for the rural implementation of spirulina farming with at least 100 women farmers in Faridpur, Bangladesh.…
